Review: Country Kitchen Restaurant
Located at Voght Street, and just past the bridge coming into Merritt from Highway 5 A. The Country Kitchen Restaurant offers breakfast form 7 am to 11.30 am daily.. Two entrances give access to the restaurant ,one level and one a small step up to a deck attached to thebooth-ed eating area .Very clean with veneer wooded floors , uncluttered with wide bench type booths .for a functional breakfast un-pressured and un-crowded .Large glass widows give you a sense of what the day in Merritt may entail by a viewing of traffic coming acrossa raised and enhanced bridge watching the downtown in a relaxed reflective vigil. The 112 year old bridge recently replaced is adorned with banners and ornate railings with wide walks centering a widened walking route, highlighting city flower beds and green space.
The Nicola River separates you just briefly from a small park joined by another walking bridge inviting a brief circle tour back to your parked car in the Desert Inn parking lot.The after your breakfast time you may well shake down and settle your plans to continue on your way with agood sense of connection to earth and sky.
The breakfast menu includes four kinds of omelets, four kinds of meat and egg entries, and numbers of kinds of traditional breakfast favorites. Expect to pay a dollar ninety for coffee with your meal and the best omelet will make you about 12 dollars and 33 cents lighter then when you came in: per person. The omelet I had this last week was satisfying and stayed with me well past lunch hour.(editors note HST applys today)
