Nicola Valley Film Society Showing: Is anybody There?

A tought provoking film that presents an alternative view to live after death. totally subjective and makes  a point that there is nothing for a person after breathing their last earthly breath. the film debunks all searching and contact for  those lost to eternity and satirised a young  boys attempted to communicate with the dead . An interest he developed  through living with his parents business , a home for the aged . Present at peoples passing and the use of a recording devise he attemps to capture after death activity. When an aged sleight of hand practitioner takes up residence  the discovery is continually discouraged and diminished to  a hope of life after death through leaving a legacy. The Character passes sleight of hands tricks on as a skill to the young man and then expires himself. The last scene in the film visually enforcers this view by the young man riding the power chair  up the stairs in the home and vicariously taking the place of the expired patrons and their skills.

The absence of crosses in cemetary scenes and  the brief  debunking of christians at a supper . absolutely communicates a atheistical view. While welcome to that view , the film is not balanced at all and one could speculate t that  the recent and recurring problems of the afterlife as put forward  from the Plato , to the pomp of Greece and Rome and on to Islam and others have made that focus very unappealing in someone’s mind.

For those that believe in the death, burial ,and resurrection of Christ as only the remedy for separation at death, it is an excellent film to understand a counter view and how hard that it is to accept eternal separation :
Rates***** Excellent.

PS: There are some light moments that  are quite enjoyable.
