Nicola Valley Film Society Showing : Cairo Time

March 8 2010 was the showing of Cairo Time  by the Nicola Valley  Film Society. Attended by a moderate crowd ,it was the last showing for the 2009 – 2010 season.  The Canadain made film was set in the Egyptian Capital . A romantic notion prevailed that sets a contrast between the exotic and modern standards  of behaviour. The romance of coffee cafes, water pipes and antiquities of  colossal scope  as the pyramids are is a compelling escape from at least 2 standards we in the west guard .The implication that the noticable absence of any police or security presence in the city is directly proportional to the tought that some would make that if the  traditional economy of that place were not interfered with then there would not be unrest.

The genius of the film is the tactic of leaving judgement  to the viewers , numbers of explicit situations are left  for unknown consummation. This makes the film totally worth while as it communicates liberty in interpretation a great venue for an international film that appeals to different nation groups customs. Some how the intimacy of this situation leaves a person empowered not  for argument but peaceful resolve to open-mindedness.

The photography is well done not exploited to entice to the tourist sides but balanced  to reenforce the setting and the plot. When the characterization is compared to the settings again a person can interoperate in an open-minded way. If absolutes are the life-blood of totalitarian regimes ,then the moderate views of compromise , process, and discovery are enhanced by the plot and subplots of this film. (Hint economy of class)

The education of locals in Egypt at university is dominated by degrees in tourism, which is also necessary to understand the population and their aspirations.
